Cheese dan rennet


Hari ni, saya 'study' sikit sebanyak pasal cheese.... Ramai org biasa dgn cheese... kebanyakan resipi western food ada terkandung cheese.... pizza..burger.... cheese cake... etc...etc.. Dulu, saya pun tak kisah sgt pasal cheese ni.... Yalah cheese.. made from milk... Kalau kat Malaysia, asal beli yg ada tanda halal JAKIM, kira 'ya' lah tuh... Tapi sebenarnya, disebalik proses penghasilan cheese tuh.. ada terkandung satu bahan yg dipanggil 'rennet' yg secara ringkas kegunaan dia nih.. ialah utk mengentalkan susu yg cair...

Soalnya... from where they get the rennet? Ada banyak discussion pasal asal usul rennet nih.. menurut satu buku yg saya baca, dia kata rennet dapat drp kulit perut anak lembu...well... fine... anak lembu, bukan khinzir... tp, problem pulak, kita tak tau status halal atau tak anak lembu tuh... sbb kita tak tau cara camna anak lembu tu disembelih... Up to an extent, saya rasa better to avoid la makanan cheese nih..

In term of choosing food kat negeri org putih nih, particularly yg readily packed, condition dia saya rasa better dr kat malaysia...sbb, kat sini, ingredient dia mention secara detail.. even chemical name atau nama2 enzymes yg mungkin ramai lay man tak tau atau tak paham pun... instead of the usual term yg biasa kita jumpa kat malaysia 'pewarna dan penambah perisa yg dibenarkan' :). Same goes to cheese, even rennet pun ada dlm senarai ingredient dia.. Dan, kat sini juga, foods are labelled either suitable for vegetarian or not.. So, utk kita muslim nih, nak cari yg ada cop halal JAKIM memang tak de kat sini (kecuali brg2 impot dr malaysia) ... yg ada cop halal badan2 muslim lain pun susah...so, to choose vegetarian food is a safer choice la, as long as tak terkandung alkohol, sbb vegetarian boleh ambik alkohol dlm diet diorang.

Until one day, when i discovered that actually, rennet nih ada macam2 jenis rupanya! Luckily... there is vegetable rennet.... dan ada lagi types of non-animal base rennet.. So, senang citenya.. tak mau la pikir2 susah sgt :). saya simpulkan boleh makan la sebenarnya cheese nih! asalkan kita 'almost sure' (nak 100% sure pun susah gak.... sbb kita tak tengok sendiri! :0) yg rennet yg dia guna is vegetable rennet@non animal based rennet... dan kalau kat sini, cari cheese yg suitable for vgetarian la!... Camane... ok?

Ni ada sikit ilmu pasal rennet utk dikongsi...
